1 Nov 2001 - SCHOOL CALL FOR ALL VILLAGE ARTISTS!

November is upon us, and so our thoughts are rapidly turning to our school Christmas production. This year, we have decided upon a classic musical play; the theme will be familiar to you all. It is the story of a little girl who fell down the rabbit hole and discovered a world of fantasy ? the story of Alice in Wonderland. This version has been written, based closely on the famous Lewis Carroll tale, but with a lovely collection of modern songs for the children to perform. We are certain that it will prove very popular with everyone and can?t wait to get started.

Our biggest problem at the moment is that we no longer have our very talented set designer, Terri Pieczenko. For the last three years, Mrs Pieczenko has provided us with the lovely backdrops that you will have seen hanging on the stage at the back of the village hall. They have always been an inspiration to the whole cast, and really have provided us with a colourful setting for the children?s performances. However, as her youngest child has now left our school, we are searching for a new talent to follow in her footsteps.

If you would like to have a go, or if you can think of anyone who may be able to help us, then please get in touch with school. It maybe that you know of a student who would like to take up the challenge as part of an assessment project, or simply that you know of someone who shows flair with a paintbrush and is prepared to try their hand. Either way, please phone Mrs Jenner on 851267, and we will contact you with further details.

In the meantime, if you would like to put the dates in your diary, the performances of Alice will be on Wednesday 5 December at 2.00 and on Thursday 6 December at 7.00. The evening performance will be ticket only, and is always sold out very quickly to families and friends. However, we would like to invite everyone to the performance on Wednesday, which will be uncharged. It is always good to have a big afternoon audience as it makes the children feel very special. So much hard work goes into the show, that they want to share it with as many people as possible, so do turn up at the parish hall and be entertained by some of the keenest performers around!
