1 Apr 2002 - AN EGGCITING END TO THE TERM
Looking back over the Spring term, everyone is asking the same question - ?Where did it go??. It seems like no time at all since we returned for the start of the New Year and already Easter is upon us. Not that we are complaining - it has been a packed and productive time for us all, ending in our first ever Spring Concert.
Preparations for the concert began on many different fronts. Each class selected an appropriate song for Spring or Easter and practised it during odd minutes during the day and the Dance group started work on a piece inspired by ?Spring Cleaning?. Similarly, each music group prepared a few tunes for performance under the guidance of their peripatetic tutors, so we had a wide variety of instruments to entertain us too. Our newest musicians, who have only been learning for a few weeks, introduced the event with a Fanfare for Spring on trumpet. Following this, we had music played on flute, a recorder tune, keyboard arrangements and a guitar ensemble led by Stuart Toms. The members of Le Club Francais sang in french for us with the help of Martine Flight, and the whole afternoon was accompanied by Andrew Daldorph on piano.
After the concert, we announced the results of our Easter Art competition. Every child in the school had entered the competition, and the hall was transformed into an Art Gallery for all to see. To acknowledge the high standards of all the art work, every entrant received a small egg from FANS, our school association. The judges then had the difficult task of choosing the best artist in each year group,so that they could be awarded a special prize and a certificate of achievement.
Finally, the Spring term ended with our Key Stage 1 Balloon Launch on the last day of term. We hope the balloons travel a little bit further than the village itself and look forward to receiving returns from far and wide! Happy Easter from all the Staff.
