1 Oct 2003 - AUTUMN TERM NEWS FROM NSC PRIMARY SCHOOL

Here at school, we have all settled in well to the new school term. We now have 100 children on roll, with almost all our year groups full to capacity. The school building is looking great, with replacement windows and doors to the main building and newly painted woodwork throughout. Everyone has been very impressed, and we are feeling proud to return to our updated premises.

Unfortunately though, our garden areas did not fare so well during the summer holidays! With the many days of hot weather and little rain, some of our delicate willow structures and fences died off, possibly for good. Meanwhile, by contrast, a glut of weeds seemed to thrive in these unusual conditions, and consequently, our Millennium Garden is looking rather overgrown.

Clearly, we are in desperate need of someone with greenfingers to come and help us out of this mess and so I would like to appeal to any reader that feels they may be able to lend a hand. Alternatively, if you know of a reasonably priced gardener then we would be interested to take recommendations. Please phone the office on 851267 with any suggestions.

Meanwhile, the Autumn Term has got off to an excellent start. We have had a visit from Theatre Alibi, who gave us a dramatic presentation of a collection of Michael Rosen poems, and we are looking forward to two cinema trips later this month. Top priority of the moment though, is our forthcoming Harvest Festival, which all the children take part in. Once again, we have managed to find some new songs to entertain parents and friends with, so we are looking forward to a good celebration in school. As I am sure you will know by now, all villagers and friends are welcome to join parents for this event. If you would like to come along, the celebration will begin at 10.30 on Friday10 October and last for about an hour. We look forward to seeing you.
