1 May 2006 - RARE JOB OPPORTUNITY ARISES AT NSC PRIMARY SCHOOL

From the end of the school year, Mrs Ruth Tremlett is to take retirement from her post as Caretaker of NSC Primary. The decision was not taken lightly ? Ruth says that she will really miss her connection with the school but she feels that she would like more time to dedicate to the other interests in her life, which after 20 years of loyal service is fair enough!

It does, however, leave us with a very big role to fill and so I am appealing for your help ? do you know of anyone who may be interested in stepping into Ruth?s shoes from September this year? If you do then I would really appreciate you telling them about the forthcoming vacancy so that they can contact us to find out more!

To help get your minds working, let me share with you our ideas about the type of person we are looking for. The Governing Body has thought long and hard about the ideal person for the job and they have come up with the following specification. They would like to appoint someone who is:

· Part of the local community
· Responsible for maintaining a secure site
· Aware of Health and Safety issues
· Honest and Trustworthy
· Friendly and Approachable
· Able to maintain the high standards of cleaning
· Able to offer basic maintenance skills if possible

The job hours are negotiable, but are currently 20 hours weekly, split around the school day during term time (although they could be much more flexible when the school is closed). The post is 52 weeks per year with four weeks paid annual leave plus bank holidays and an hourly rate of £5.45. Finally, whilst previous experience is desirable, it is not essential so this should not prevent anybody from applying.

We hope to interview at the end of May, so if you can think of anyone who might want to apply for the post then I would be very grateful if you would show them this article. The caretaker is such an important part of the school community that we really need to make sure that we find the very best person to take up the role and I feel confident that, with your help, we will be able to do just that!
