1 Sep 2006 - BACK TO SCHOOL AGAIN

One of our favourite songs at NSC Primary is reserved for this time of year because it begins like this:

We?re here, starting the year
Everyone is back from their holidays
Who?s new? How do you do
We?re so glad you?re joining us too!

No doubt we will be singing along to it again this September, with the sentiment being particularly relevant as we welcome the biggest reception intake for fifteen years or more! This academic year we will be welcoming seventeen new five year olds through our doors, making us full to capacity in most of our year groups, with just a few places still available in Key Stage One.

This level of popularity seems set to continue for the foreseeable future, with Newton Nippers pre-school expanding to take on new sessions this term, and school registration lists being in double figures already for the coming few years. We even have some fairly recently born babies on our books! As a Staff, we find this very gratifying as we know that our popularity is due to the positive communications spread throughout the community by our parents, children, families and friends. Indeed for us, there can be no higher praise, so thank you all!

Reflecting for a moment on the ethos of our school, it can best be summed up by our motto ?Together We Succeed?. Everyone at NSC Primary works closely together, trying hard to provide the best possible all round education for every individual child. We aim to create an atmosphere of positive endeavour towards a personal best and do this within a socially caring community. In this way, we believe that all children receive the kind of education that will enable them to be lifelong learners - who will be successful in their own lives whilst caring about all other members of society.

If this sounds like a philosophy that you could subscribe to, and you would like to play a more active part at our school, we are always looking for volunteer helpers from the community (particularly at this time of the year when we are setting up our classroom and extra curricular activities). Could I also remind you that we are currently seeking a School Cleaner, who is available to work for a few hours each afternoon, two new Teaching Assistants for Key Stage 2, and some relief Mealtime Assistants. If you are interested in any of these roles, please phone the school office (01392 851267) during the first week back to arrange a visit to meet and discuss these opportunities further.
