We have two teachers because they work as a jobshare for half the week each. They are Mrs Birdwood and Mrs Nicholls. Also, Miss Angell works with us every morning to help us with maths and literacy. We all work hard and enjoy all the different activities. We have PE every afternoon for 30 minutes. This helps keep us fit and is great fun too! There are several computers and an interactive whiteboard in our class - we use them every day. This photo was taken on the field when we were practising athletics. Sometimes we do Philosophy: we are getting good at debating and thinking about difficult questions!
In our maths lessons we learn about numbers, problem solving, measuring, shapes, time and money. We enjoy English. We read exciting big books in our literacy hour and write our own books too. This term our topics are, 'All About Me', followed by 'Let's Celebrate' as we approach Christmas. Science is exciting, and this term we are finding out about Ourselves and how we grow, then we will be exploring the topic of Light.
There are twenty-two children in our class. Ten of us are girls and twelve are boys. We have Barnaby Bear to take on holiday with us, and we send postcards from him to the class. In the Summer term, we love swimming every week. We often go out of school on visits and trips, such as The Mill Activity Centre last year which was great fun and we learned a lot.
We have an outdoor classroom, which has a mud hut, a play house, large wooden blocks for building, living willow seats and a great sand pit. We are using it to do role play and make ramps for our cars to roll down. Sometimes groups work in it when the weather is fine, and we enjoy stories there too.
Our school has a healthy eating policy and we are really enjoying trying all sorts of different foods for snacks and lunch. These include many different fruits and cut up vegetables as well as sandwiches, pasta and rice salads. There is hardly any litter from wrappers on the playground now, either!
Last summer we went on a brilliant trip to Rosemoor Garden, to help us with our topic on plants, Classes One and Two had an exciting day out. We learned a lot about all kinds of flowers, trees and vegetables. We hope to visit more interesting places this year too.
